Breathe Easier

Dale BertramDuring the last 20 years cars have had something called a car cabin air filter added.  It is usually attached to the glove box or under the vehicle’s dashboard or even in the engine compartment.  Most vehicle owners are unaware that such a filter is in place.  Its purpose is to remove pollutants from the air before they get inside your car with you and your passengers.  In the beginning they only removed dust and soot but now also absorb gases and odors.  Our roadways and major highways are a major source of pollution due to soot, dust and exhaust fumes.  The cabin air filter keeps us from breathing in these unhealthy pollutants.

Overtime, a cabin air filter gets dirty and clogged due to all the pollutants it has captured.  You may notice an unpleasant odor or decreased heating/air conditioning performance when this occurs.  We recommend that the car cabin air filter be changed every year or every 12,000 – 15,000 miles.  If you drive in areas that are heavily polluted or dusty then we recommend you have it changed more frequently.

Keep your cabin air filter clean and breathe easier!

Happy Motoring,
